2026 Military Pay Dates: Every Payday, LES Schedule & Early Deposit

"When do I get paid this month?" gets searched hundreds of thousands of times a year — because the answer changes constantly. Active-duty pay lands twice a month, but weekends and federal holidays push the actual dates around all year. Here's the complete 2026 calendar, the rule that governs it, and when your bank actually posts the money.

The Rule That Explains Everything

Active-duty members are paid twice a month:

• Mid-month pay — on the 15th (covers the 1st–15th)
• End-of-month pay — on the 1st of the following month (covers the 16th–31st)

The one rule to remember: if the 15th or the 1st lands on a weekend or federal holiday, payday moves earlier — never later. DFAS disburses on the last business day before. That's why February's mid-month pay arrives on the 13th and November's arrives on the 13th: the 15th is a weekend in both cases.

Every 2026 Active-Duty Payday

Watch December: end-of-month pay lands on Friday, January 1, 2027 — a federal holiday, so it stays on schedule (holidays don't push it later; DFAS transmits for the 1st even when it's a holiday, and most banks post it that day or the next business day). Budget accordingly: that paycheck covers the holidays but the January 15 check has to stretch to the end of the month.

When Your LES Comes Out

Your Leave and Earnings Statement appears in myPay about 7 days before each payday — roughly the 8th for mid-month pay and the 23rd for end-of-month. Check it every time: pay errors are far easier to fix before payday than after. Common things to verify:

• BAH rate matches your duty station and dependent status (especially after a PCS or a change in family status — see the BAH calculator)
• Special pays and bonuses actually posted
• TSP contributions changed when you expected them to
• Leave balance matches your records

Getting Paid Early: USAA vs Navy Federal

The official payday is the same for everyone, but military-friendly banks front the money because they receive the DFAS payroll file before the settlement date:

Early pay is a courtesy of your bank, not an entitlement — DFAS never moves the official date. If you're timing rent or a bill payment around it, build in a buffer: a bank delay or federal system outage can push early posting back to the normal date.

Budgeting Around the Two-Paycheck Month

Because end-of-month pay arrives on the 1st, most months feel like you're paid on the 1st and 15th. But a few 2026 gaps will strain a budget if you're not ready:

• Mar 15 → Apr 1 is a normal 16-day gap, but April's mid-month pay on the 15th then has to stretch to May 1
• The December squeeze: mid-month pay Dec 15, end-of-month Jan 1, then mid-month Jan 15 — the longest stretch between checks for most families
• If you split bills by calendar month, set autopay dates right after the 1st and 15th, not before

Retirees: A Completely Different Schedule

Retired pay arrives once a month, on the first business day of the following month. January's retired pay lands January 30, February's on February 27 — the schedule runs one month behind the entitlement month. Annuitants (SBP survivors) follow the same once-monthly rhythm.
